The Black Educators Association (BEA) was founded in 1969 to assist African Nova Scotian communities develop strategies toward an equitable education system.
Demonstrating a strong commitment as a grassroots organization, the BEA also coordinates their efforts with the Department of Education and Culture, the African Canadian Service Division, community groups, parent associations
, school boards, as well as other educational bodies. The BEA is a volunteer, non-profit organization.
